Bishop Brinkley is a ministerial visionary and spiritual shepherd to hundreds around the Tidewater - Hampton Roads area. Bishop James D. Brinkley Sr. began fulfilling his call to the ministry in 1972; in 1976 he founded Holy Temple Ministries. It was a small beginning in an unfamiliar place within the neighborhood of Wilmund Place in the city of Chesapeake, Virginia.
More than 32 years later, he pastors what is considered "one of the nation’s most prolific ministries." Holy Temple Ministries a multiracial (cross-cultural) charismatic church with various outreach ministries. God being all powerful and all knowing spoke to the ministry in 2001 and said, "That the ministry must move and build Him a house." Because Bishop was obedient to the voice of the LORD, Holy Temple stepped out on faith and followed the "Glory Cloud."
Bishop received his education within the Norfolk Public School System. He furthered his ministerial training in Religious Studies at CH Mason Bible College. This Man of GOD, Bishop Brinkley is revered locally, nationally as a dynamic man of vision, leadership, integrity and compassion.
Bishop Brinkley has been married to
Elsie Wiggins-Brinkley for fifty (50) years and is the proud parent of two; Angela Faye & James Jr. grandfather of four: Artisha, Christian, Arthur Jerome and James III and the great-grandfather of two Aaliyah and Jordan. His favorite scripture for over forty-five (45) years is from Psalm 127:1
"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain."
